Russian Visa processing time in UK

Russian visa processing times vary from application to application and are at the sole discretion of the Russian Consulate in London and Edinburgh, and some Russian visa applications may take longer than others to get processed. Hence, confirm your travel plans only after obtaining the Russian visa.

Here are some estimates of processing times under normal circumstances: 

  • Normal Russian visa applications submitted in London and Edinburgh will take minimum 5 working days to get processed. (The same are not applied for citizens of Australia, Italy, The Netherlands, USA, Turkmenistan and France if applicants do not have UK leave to remain or UK residence permit for a term exceeding 90 days).

  • Next day Russian visa applications can be collected on next working day during the passport collection timings.

  • For EU citizens applying for single or double entry Russian visa with invitation letter containing Individual Tax Number (ИНН) visa processing time is 5 working days.

  • For EU citizens applying for multiple entries business or humanitarian Russian visa with invitation letter containing Individual Tax Number (ИНН) visa processing time is 10 working days.

  • For Applicants wishing to travel to some parts of North Caucasus Russian visa processing time is up to 10 working days.

  • For Applicants wishing to apply for a Russian visa providing official letter from British Foreign and Commonwealth Office instead of telex, Russian visa processing time is up to 10 working days.

  • For Applicants applying for a Russian visa with telex to visit British Embassy in Russia, visa processing time is 5 working days.

Example of visa processing duration time:

If application is submitted on Monday, under normal services, it would be ready for collection on the following Monday only.

The processing times for visas are estimates only. These are based on information and experience of the Russia Consulates in Edinburgh and London .

The processing of your application is subject to the procedures and timescales of the Russian Consulates, over which we have no control.

Russian visa processing time for Postal Applications

Processing time for postal applications takes longer due to the period they are in transit to and from Russia Visa Application Centre. Kindly add this period to the minimum 7 calendar days required to process the visa application once complete documents have been received. The complete process may take 8-10 working days. Application once sent in post can not be withdrawn unless there is an emergency for which documentary evidence shall be required. Russian visa application centre in UK shall not bear responsibility for any delays in postal transit or loss in transit owing to third party involved.
